Vegan apple crisp is such an easy and delicious alternative to apple pie. I love making apple crisp in Fall when apples are abundant and I want to make something sweet and cozy in the oven.
Apple crisp is quick and easy to make. All you need to do is slice some apples, and a few ingredients to toss them in, and make a batter to top them with. This apple crisp recipe is made with 100% vegan ingredients! I used vegan butter and soy milk and the rest of the ingredients were already vegan.
Apple Crisp Ingredients
For this vegan apple crisp, you will need:
- 6 large apples (I used gala apples, but I’m sure any type will work)
- 1 Cup Turbinado Sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Cornstarch
- 1/2 C. Melted Vegan Butter
- 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
- 1 C. All Purpose Flour
- 1 tbsp. Soy Milk
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 2 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. Salt
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Grease a 9X13 inch pan with a little bit of vegan butter
- Wash and slice the apples (peel if desired) and add them into greased baking pan. Toss them with the brown sugar, cinnamon and cornstarch until well combined. Evenly spread out the apples in the pan and set aside.
- For the batter, mix the melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and soy milk in a medium sized mixing bowl. Once this is well combined, add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until a cookie dough batter consistency is formed. It should be like cookie dough but a little more crumbly.
- Crumble the batter over the apples evenly as best you can (it doesn’t need to be perfect!)
- Bake for 40-45 min until golden brown.
- Once it’s done, let it cool for about 15 min before serving. Serve on it’s own or with some vegan vanilla ice cream!
This vegan apple crisp recipe is pretty similar to my vegan peach cobbler recipe, except I like to add cinnamon to my apple crisp and prefer them during different seasons!
