Apple crisp is one of my favorite desserts to make in the Fall. Not only is it super delicious, but it is so easy and effortless! It is basically a dump and bake recipe, it only takes a few minutes of prepping!

Apple crisp is kind of like the easy version of an apple pie. You really get all of the same flavors with about half the effort! To make this recipe, you will need:

For the Filling:

  • 8 medium apples (I used honey crisp)
  • 1/2 C. brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

For the Crisp Topping:

  • 3/4 C. Unbleached All Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 C. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 stick of butter (or 1/2 C.)
  • 1 C. rolled oats

Instructions

To make this easy + delicious Fall apple crisp, start by slicing your apples and dumping them in a large mixing bowl, or even directly in a 9X13 baking dish. You can mix everything directly in the baking dish for easier clean up! Next, add the rest of the filling ingredients and mix thoroughly until apples are well coated and everything in well combined.

Set aside and prep the topping. For the topping, combine all the dry ingredients first. Next, cut your stick of butter into cubes and work it in with a fork. I ended up using my hands, it just makes it easier. Once you have achieved a crumbly, cookie dough like consistency, crumble on top of the filling.

Bake for 45 min and voila, you have an apple crisp! See how easy that was? Make sure you allow the apple crisp to cool for at least 15 min before serving. I suggest serving with vanilla ice-cream on the side, or some whipped cream.
