Easy Baked Tempeh Bites

These easy baked tempeh bites are so crispy and full of flavor!

These baked tempeh bites are my new favorite thing! They are easy to make and are perfect to add to stir fry dishes and salads fro extra protein and crunch. I love how crispy you can make tempeh and the different texture it has compared to tofu. While I do love tofu, I like to switch to switch it up every now and then with tempeh!

What is Tempeh?

Both tofu and tempeh are processed soy products. One of the main differences between tofu and tempeh are that tofu is made from soy milk and tempeh is made from fermented soybeans. Tempeh has more texture and flavor than tofu. I was a little thrown off by this when I first tried tempeh, if I’m being honest! However, I have learned to love tempeh and realized it’s all about how you cook it and season it.

Benefits of Tempeh

Some benefits of tempeh are :

  • High amount of protein, even more so than tofu
  • Contains probiotics, which can help improve digestion
  • May help decrease cholesterol levels
  • High in vitamins and minerals

Tempeh is such a great health food overall and I highly recommend that you give it a try if you haven’t yet. This recipe is so easy and versatile that I think it’s the perfect way introducing it into your diet. You can make these tempeh bites ahead of time to throw them into your favorite meals or even have them as a snack!

How to Make the Baked Tempeh Bites

  1. To make these easy baked tempeh bites, start by cutting the tempeh into small 1/2 inch cubes.
  2. Next, add the tempeh to a medium bowl and add the seasonings.
  3. Toss the tempeh with the seasonings until it’s well coated.
  4. Bake on a parchment lined baking sheet at 400F for 25 min.
  5. Remove from the oven and serve with rice, veggies, in a salad, whatever your heart desires!

I love adding nutritional yeast to many dishes because it adds a nice, almost cheese like flavor. It’s also a great way to get more B12 in your diet, which is very important considering I don’t eat any animal products!

You can also use tempeh in place of tofu in your favorite dishes!
