Lately, I’ve been enjoying tons of green smoothies during this hot summer weather! Smoothies are not only super refreshing, but they are extremely convenient and packed with many micro-nutrients, depending on the ingredients you use of course!
If you struggle with getting enough greens in your diet, then green smoothies are a great way to ensure you get those extra greens in! I love green smoothies because you can add a variety of fruits along with the greens and not even taste them! If you’re anything like me and have a hard time eating greens, try this smoothie recipe out! This vegan green smoothie also has some plant based protein powder that will give you an extra boost of protein.
How to Make a Well Balanced Smoothie
In order to make a well balanced smoothie that will keep you satiated for a long period of time, you can add:
- Carbs: This is any fruit you add to the smoothie that will give a boost of energy, fiber, and minerals
- Protein: Protein helps maintain muscle tissue and helps keep you full
- Fat: Fat is essential in regulating hormones. Fat also contains those essential fatty acids that are great for our hair, skin, and nails!
If you are vegan or vegetarian like myself, then you know that it can take a bit more effort to get your protein intake in as compared to carbs and even fats sometimes. That’s why I’m a big believer in supplementing with protein powder!
